How telephone on-hold music was invented
In 1962, Alfred Levy noticed that his company’s telephone system was picking up a radio station. The radio station was located next door to his factory. He investigated and discovered this was happening because an exposed wire had inadvertantly come into contact with a metal support beam. In 1966, he received patent# 3246082 for “Music On-Hold.”
